Subject: I have taken the "plunge"

Well I "pulled the trigger " on my long considered purchase of the powerful flip fluids addon for Blender.

Nothing of mine to show yet as I have been a little busy with no CG related matters.

I was "on the fence" for while (its a $79 Dollar addon), then I watched that ridiculous , new "Godzilla vs Kong" movie that is streaming right know.

That film , while very predictable & formulaic , had some really awesome battle scenes that took place on the ocean and I kept thinking about how flip fluids has been favorably compared to Houdini fluids and the Mighty Bifrost fluids simulator for Maya.

I also bought a really neat addon called Fracture iterator that gives many more use specific control over Blender destruction dynamics. and some new Sci-fi Decals for my decal machine Addon

I am like the proverbial "Kid in the candy store", when I visit Blender market, But knowing that a portion of my purchases supports the Blender dev fund helps me justify my costs.

Time to learn &produce !!!

WOW!!! I can't recall ever seeing fluid animation of that sort done with Blender before. It's definitely pricey, but the end results look worth every penny.

I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing what you come up with Wolf. 😉

Thanks for sharing Wolf I have that one on my future wish list as well but spent my saved up pennies on a couple of other things during Blender Markets spring sale that I hope to start playing with soon but still great share 👍

Just be sure you're getting all you can out of the Mantaflow implementation that's already in Blender before diving in for FLIP. FLIP is good if you're focus is going to be on a huge number of particles in the scene, specific to fluids-only. Mantaflow still has some advantages though when it comes to smaller fluid sims or other types of simulations, like smoke and fire.

indeed for smoke , steam& fire mantaflow simulator is very powerful and the VDB importer works great.

However for large-scale simulations with automatic generation of foam and white water, flip fluids is far superior for cinematic quality simulations.
