Well the human generator for Blender is finally released and I am not impressed☹️

IMHO $129 USD for a Commercial use license is a bit high considering its limitations and mediocore figure quality ,compared to other solutions like free Daz studio with free Diffeomorphic addon. or Reallusion CC3 with free CC3 pipeline auto texture conversion addon- $199.

I get the appeal of staying completely within the Blender Eco-system with HUMGEN but standards for prefabbed figures are very high these days and the Epic games new metahuman creator for UE4&Maya has just raised the bar for everyone.

Maybe as time goes by it will improve and as much as like trying to stay completely with in Blender I know that is not completely possible at least with the latest builds of Blender over the last 2 years incorporating it with other 3D packages has become easier and more compatible

Indeed Blender seems to be getting as much external support from the major Prefabbed figure platforms as the all other major 3DCC's

There is alot of excitement ,over the the Iclone community, about the Iclone CC3 pipeline Add-on that completely re-creates the PBR skin shader adjustment tools, from iclone, directly inside Blender.CC3DAZ HAIRSTEMPLATE.png

Is this only available thru the CC3 pipeline or is possibe with just CC3 I have the IClone Pipeline and have wonder do I need to purchase the CC3 pipeline as well when I got CC3 I did not get the pipeline version since I was already getting the IClone I thought the pipeline worked across both not just the one it is sort of confusing

Hi Lobo,

For export ,as FBX to the major 3DCC's and game engines, you need the stand alone Character creator3 pipeline version. This is the version that can import and convert Daz genesis figures, clothing, hairs into native CC3 Avatars& content .

The basic version of CC3 that is bundled with iclone 7x can only morph native CC3 Avatars and send them over to iclone.

The free CC3 pipeline Addon for blender needs an FBX exported from CC3 pipeline to replicate the PBR skinshader interface in Blender.

It is a huge workflow time saver for us animators who only use iclone as an animated figure resource for Blender.?

Yeah, the price of Human Generator is a bit steep for what it's offering at the moment. I don't use human figures often right now so it's not on my buy list. I have been looking for a pathway from Poser though. It's only figure creation and content that slows me down. I thought Manuel Bastioni Lab might have been it but he bailed too soon. Humgen may have learned from that in that they are putting the payment plan upfront so there's no confusion. I also find it interesting that they are promoting the ability to create content packs for their characters.

One of Daz and Poser's strengths is the ecosystem of related content, sized for their figures, and easy for people to use. Blenderkit is doing something similar. Easy to find and use content for Blender users. Imagine if you could buy or download Humgen content packs on Blenderkit. Imagine if the community created freebies built for these particular figures. Bastioni was very focused on the meshes, which I like a lot. HG seems to be focused on the interface and creating an ecosystem.

Long-time Blender users have had to develop workflows or take advantage of third-party tools to get rigged and textured figures into the software. New users may welcome a tool like this with open arms. Gotta love the newbs, many times they have more money than skills, lol. I'd love to see this grow, they seem to be off to a good start.

Manuel Bastioni Lab is still around. It's called MB-LAB, and it works in the latest versions of Blender. The latest version on Github is 1.7.8, and works fine on Blender 2.81 to 2.83. Not sure if there are bugs or what but it should install in 2.9x as well.

Thanks. I’m aware of MB-Lab, but trying to reverse engineer Bastioni’s code has really slowed development. Good to have multiple options though.
