Subject: Poser can't open - missing files

VolcanicMink ( ) posted Tue, 12 January 2021 at 5:24 AM · edited Tue, 12 March 2024 at 5:02 AM

PP11, Win 7, i9

Poser stopped working about 2 weeks ago, and support couldn't seem to help. When I try to open it I get System Errors "MSVCP140.dll" and "VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled without success. Some research found that these two missing files are C++ files. Now, first let me say that this program was working fine earlier in the day, and then later that same day would not load. So the two files disappeared from the computer, and do not seem be part of the Poser installation itself.

How do I get these files back and get Poser working again? Thank you!

The first I would do is to see if you can do a Restore of windows. Could be that it got an update that you need to revert to have it working again.

Hi,

I suggest you that you download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio to see if this resolves the issue.

Another step you can take is to run an SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruption in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

Follow the below steps:

open a Command Prompt (Admin) * click start / windows system ( right click on command prompt and select run as administrator )

Type :

sfc /scannow

press Enter.

After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
