Subject: A built in smoothing option for Bump and Normal Maps

I've recently run into an issue. I've been told that I should never save a Normal in JPG format but this has NEVER been an issue for me in all the years working in DAZ Studio nor Poser until recently. What looks like my Normal map was created to "Normalize" every poly in my pants I'm making for L'Homme. That's just not the case. I've zoomed into the map 200%, I see no subtle information that would cause this to happen. I've also recreated the Normal map using different software, same issue!

So then I thought why not have a smoothing operator in Poser that would soften up the map with a dial for strengthening the softening? Same with Bump maps, sometimes folks end up with a map used in a different program but in Poser it's grainy and strange artifacts. Rather than turning down the strength of the bump map to alleviate that issue why not have a way to soften up the map to get the right degree of Bump one would need.

Seems to make sense in my mind!

It's just a thought! Y'all have a good day!

I have no idea, but is this not possible by adjusting the texture strength on the image node for the texture?

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?
