Does she have a displacement map? There's some kind of issue with displacement maps. Or maybe it's the MAT files. If they were made for older versions of Poser, they end up with values too high when you use them in newer versions of Poser. The fix is to reduce the displacement value until it looks right.

I am an avid user of Jo's products. our departed friend is still among the élite for hair and figures for V4. sometimes adjustment is needed and there are many options to do the same. if you are using a base figure other than V4, I have no knowledge with Genesis figures

Yes that's a displacement map issue. Unhook or lower the value and the issue goes away.
