I installed 3 days ago and got instant crashes upon rendering. Did the latest update and still instant crash with empty scene. I'm on win10. Event Viewer shows "Fault Path windowssystem32UCRTBASE.DLL." Any suggestions or cures

If updating a previous install, maybe choose option to "Backup and replace preferences".

Thanks for the rapid response but No Joy still crashing on render

AmbientShade ( ) posted Fri, 27 November 2020 at 12:37 PM

I still have the same issue, on win7.

ghostship2 ( ) posted Fri, 27 November 2020 at 1:09 PM

just asking: is that a 32bit version of Windows 7? It does say system 32.

Yes. It installs fine, can load and manipulate content, but trying to render anything it crashes. My graphics drivers are up to date, and I'm using cpu.

just because you can load a 64 bit program into a 32bit OS doesn't mean you'll be able to run it.

• Windows 10 and above. (64-bit OS required for installation) • 2 GHz Intel Core 2 or newer, Athlon 64 or newer (2.5 GHz or faster recommended) • 2 GB system RAM (8 GB or more recommended) • OpenGL enabled graphics card or chipset recommended (recent Nvidia GeForce and ATI Radeon required for advanced real-time preview features) • 24-bit color display, 1440x900 minimum resolution • 3 GB free hard disk space (20 GB required to install all included content.) • DVD-ROM drive (physical product only) • Internet connection for updates and required online activation. • CUDA enabled device required for hardware accelerated final rendering (2 GB VRAM minimum, Compute Capability 2.0 minimum) • Optix-accelerated raytracing requires Nvidia RTX or Turing GPU, or newer.

Sorry I don't know why I said yes - partial thought maybe, was getting ready for work.

I'm running 64-bit win7 home, 16gb ram, amd phenom II x4 965 3.41ghz and a gtx 970 gpu with 4gb ram. Poser 11.3 runs and renders fine, as does the latest version of zbrush and blender 2.9, so I don't know why P12 would have a problem. And I've seen others here say they're running win7 as well with no issues, to include nerd3d.

Is there a way to run a crash log for Poser? It doesn't post any notice in the notifications.

@AmbientShade ok. I got no clue. I doesn't like something about your machine but can't tell. I think the beta testers version might keep a log. Maybe you could contact JennBlake and get on the beta testers teem.

@jaxon101 which version of Poser, what OS? @ambientshade: which version of Poser?

just a check in advance, if it is a newer version of poser and Windows, have you tried compatibility mode?

@structure - the most recent version of Poser 12, released 11-25-20. I can run and render in the latest version of Poser 11.3 just fine, but none of the versions of Poser 12 will render on my system. It just crashes with no explanation. Again, it's 64-bit win7 home, with 16gb ram and a quad amd processor.

It's not a big deal really, I just wanted to test out the new rendering and postwork features. I understand the min requirements state win10, but tbh, all my other software works just fine in win7 and I'm not going to the expense and time of upgrading to 10 just for Poser, at least not right now.
