Subject: Help: Poser 10 not starting

Seymore2020 ( ) posted Sun, 22 November 2020 at 5:55 AM ยท edited Thu, 21 March 2024 at 12:54 PM

I have Poser 10 on Windows 8.1. It used to work, but stopped working sometime last year (2019). Uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't worked.

When starting Poser, the loading screen shows up, then I get the message "Poser executable file has stopped working." On trouble shooting, I get a message titled "mainButtons", which reads: "An error occurred importing PythonShell: ERROR: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found."

On Googling, it appears that most, if not all, similar problems were caused by a Windows update (KB3132372), which I do not have installed. Nevertheless, I uninstalled all Windows updates from 2019. Still no luck.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I had such a phenomenon before . try to wipe out the folder " 10 " with it's content in

C::ProgramData:Poser Pro

if this does not help wipe out folder " 10 " and the content in

C::Users:Your Username :AppData:Roaming:Poser Pro

it might help , make sure to run the latest Update 10.05.28925

C::\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Poser Pro

if this is poser 10 and not poser pro 2014 this line would be

C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Poser

Thank you for your replies, but no luck. Poser 10 still won't work.

Also, I have poser 8 and poser 4, both of which I installed. Poser 8 won't work (it shows the same message), but poser 4 works!

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks again.

@ Seymore2020

There must be a simple solution for this error , I think that some users had the same issues back in 2016 . You might want to try installing Poser right into the C Root folder not into the Programm Files as these might be Protected I installed mine in " C:Smith MicroPoserVersion " as I also had issues when having them in the Programms folders

Are all the Service Releases installed? IIRC, there was an SR that addressed that problem but I can't be absolutely sure.
