Subject: So no animation improvements in PP12?

Trying to get this straight, waited for years for some animation improvements in Poser, and still got none in PP12.

That's really a downer in my plans to upgrade -- no point in waiting 10 years more for some hypothetical future improvement, just to be disappointed again. If I want to do some animation, should I move to a different product altogether?

You could start by posting your wishlist https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/forumpro/?forum_id=12587 and see if they are things that other people are also clamoring for, or things people have found other solutions for.

Well, I'm not sure I'm actually asking for anything. When I was younger I was more eloquent and frequently asked for things. Through the (many and long) years I've advocated and asked for animation improvements, better cloth simulation, better hair simulation, let's have some metaballs, a decent walk cycle, a way to animate repetitive movements, the list goes on.

Nowadays I'm old and not eloquent anymore. I accept that the animation crowd moved to other pastures, and Poser has consolidated as a pinup rendering program. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just sad that, after being a Poser enthusiast for so long, flabbergasted with Poser 4 and amazed with the incredible improvements in Poser 5, 6, 7, that afterwards I saw it slow down and get stuck with incremental rendering improvements.

Maybe I got spoiled by that early brilliance. But I shouldn't be sad - I've been using Poser since year 2000, it's 20 years, more than half of my adult life, and I had lots of fun. Can't complain about that. So it's time to take another look at alternatives (again!) and watch my old friend go down the road I don't want to follow.
