Subject: Some Christmas Gift Boxes (Animated Video)

I thought I'd share this little animation I put together to showcase some low poly Christmas gift boxes and bows I created in Blender. There are 10 different boxes, each with a unique ribbon and bow adornment. The textures here are 100% procedural, although I did bake them to PBR maps for redistribution as a product. The animation was rendered with Eevee in Blender 2.9 (the modeling was done in Blender 2.83) Each frame took roughly 3 seconds at 2k resolution and 60FPS. Edited in Premiere.

Loving it Lux. Unfortunately I'm still on 2.79 for now, but boy would I love to know how to do those bows. 😁

Thank you, everyone. I really appreciate it. I'm working on a new Gingerbread character now which will be fully rigged and have shape keys and props for animation or posing. I'll post some WIP of him by the weekend. I had an older Gingerbread character that was just a static prop more or less, but this one will be fully dynamic and I'm working on a relatively complex rigging system for him.

@Miss B which bow did you like best? Once the holidays are finished, I might put together a video tutorial on how to do one of the more complex bows. I know it's probably not as useful to you after the holidays, but I might not have time until then. It took me a while to figure out the best technique for some of those "metallic" star ribbon bows that are so common for Christmas gifts. The bowtie or knot variety is very simple, but it took a couple of hours to really figure out the best way to tackle that star style.

I was thinking of this red one (see screenshot below). I like the red with gold trim on the sides as well, but I think I can figure that one out myself. This one's more complex than the other one.

The impressive part is that you somehow managed to turn otherwise boring boxes into a compelling little video clip. ho ho ho! Good looking models.

Yes, that's one of the star shape bows I had a little trouble figuring out at first too, but once I broke it down into individual steps it became a lot easier to wrap my head around. It's really just 3 different ribbon shapes that are arrayed around a center empty and offset a little bit from each other. I'll try to make a video of how I did those after the holiday. You'll be surprised how easy it really is when it's broken down into individual parts.

I look forward to it, and no rush. 😄
