Subject: Genesis 4-7

Been out of the loop for a few years, left this when G3 came out; don't get me started on why, lets just say I still have some animosity towards DAZ. Just curious what happened to G4-7. I see some free wearables that are for 3 and 8; can't actually use ether.

My falling out with DAZ started with Genesis being "the last figure you'll ever need to buy", then G2 came out, and G3 all with in 18 months. Note: I've been banned from the DAZ forum a few times.

There is no G4-G7. When they brought out Victoria 8 they decided to call the base figure Genesis 8 for the sake of consistency. (The base figures for Vicky 5-7 are Genesis 1-3)

Can I read notes?  Hell, there ain't no notes to a banjo. You just play it.

Genesis 2 was a while after Genesis, though not a full two years. Genesis 3 was two years after Genesis 2.

You can now use anything on the original Genesis. You just need to get and install the various fitting packs. I can fit just about anything to a Genesis 1, from A3 across to G8. The keywords you need for search are Clone, Clones, Autofitters, and Autoclones.

Man, you still around to fact check me? LOL How ya been? Just didn't seem to me there was 18 months between G1 and G3. But DAZ left me behind with G2. Just funny, 5 years gone and DAZ is up to G8 so that would be a new G every year lol

I had to make a fitting mesh for A3 items to fit Genesis.

They ever fix that underboob bug?

From the product read mes for the Genesis # Starter Essentials:

Genesis 2012-08-16 (but I think that is late in effect, the date DS 4.5 was released rather than the original beta version) Genesis 2 2013-06-20 Genesis 3 2015-06-23 Genesis 8 2017-10-12 (I suspect that is for the addition of the male, I think the female was in June)

So, it was less than a year from the official release of Genesis to Genesis 2, almost exactly two years from Genesis 2 to Genesis 3, and a few months over two years from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8. Genesis 8 has so far had three years.

I don't think there were any changes to Genesis and its AutoFit clones after the initial updates as DS 4 itself was being developed.

Ya, that is why there is a lot of clothes that wont work well on G1 and 2. And you know I can't use 3 or 8. No easy fix to the breast tuck.

So, honestly, has anything really changed at DAZ since my time? Still banned from the forum lol

Waves at manleystanley...

dForce (dynamic) clothes definitely help with the whole under breast problem, so if you use dForce clothing (or convert clothing yourself), it's not an issue. I really like dForce hair too, Linday makes some great cloth sim hair that looks and works great. That is of course if you can use the latest version of DS.

To bad you can't use use G3 or G8, but maybe Genesis and G2 fit your needs better anyway. While I still use Genesis and G2 every now and then (just checked, I used Genesis for a final render a little over a year ago), I like G3 and G8 much better (personal preference, I like the way they bend, their expressions, and the quality of the characters/cloths better (shaders and textures are typically better IMHO). But for more stylized and toon tenders, Genesis and G2 are still great (or if I'm using Carrara). The good thing with the older characters is that DAZ does give away a lot of the older content (or it goes on sale for dirt cheap).

My app has dynamic hair, has had for years ;). Also soft cloth and a modeling room. I can fix it, just can't remember how, been a while lol

But DAZ abandoned my app so is no longer compatible, hasn't been since G3.

Ya, looking at getting the morphs for G2 I never bought at the time. But I still bear a great deal of animosity for DAZ so wont be using Studio; I mean it's not like it is compatible anymore.

Alot has changed since your "time" Dude.

Daz inc. now has a major Direct competitor in the form of Reallusion Iclone & Character creator 3

It can import and shape project ANY genesis Character onto an Iclone native Avatar including converting the clothing hair & skins for use in the realtime animation software from Reallusion or still rendering with the optional IRay plugin for Iclone.

ALL of the Reallusion software is sold right here in the Renderosity marketplace

Reallusion targets the highly lucrative Multi -billion dollar Video game content industry and received a Mutil-million dollar "megagrant" from the "kingmakers" at Epic Games ,makers of the powerful Unreal game engine.

this $$$grant$$$ was shortly after Reallusion created a realtime live link between Iclone & unreal engine4

(Alas No such acknowledgement for Daz by Epic games) ?

Sorry ..no news on the Carrara front but Daz has recently released a set of unidirectional export plugin( incorrectly called "bridges") to send Genesis figures to the major 3DCC applications Like Maya Blender, C4D as well as the Unreal game engine.

Most of the plugins send over an incredible amount of Genesis Bloatware to recreat the Daz studio joint morphs, creating massive multi-gigabyte figures over in apps like C4D and Autodesk Max for a single naked G 8 girl with no animation.

Thus it is doubtful IMHO that users of the major 3DCC wil find the daz exporter useful for professional production?

There is a free third party Daz content export for Blender called 'Diffeomorphic" that is ,by any measure, far superior to the new Daz exporter for Blender.?

Daz studio also has a new strand based hair system but the dynamic version of it is only Available to active Daz PA's IIRC

There is also a new paid feature to create Characters faces from Photographs that is better than ,the soon to be defunct, poser "face room" but is still inferior to the Headshot plugin for Reallusion Iclone Pro

DAZ implemented a new IK manual frame by frame foot pinning sytem for animation in a futile attempt to compete with Iclone but it is beyond useless for that purpose.

To put things in perspective regarding how Reallusion is about to overtake the 3D character market segment from Daz.

In this video ,I made with Reallusions Iclone/ CC3 rendered in Blender, ..Reallusion are the big guys in the dark green heavy armor and cool helmets

Daz inc are the skinny guys with the insect eye helmets desparately trying to hide from the inevitable.
