Subject: New free figure -- NoNameDoll.

bwldrd ( ) posted Sun, 21 July 2019 at 9:08 PM ยท edited Mon, 22 April 2024 at 11:17 PM

By Glidman, available @ https://sharecg.com/v/94144/gallery/11/Poser/Noname-Doll-by-Glidman

She comes with a variety of clothing, poses, and materials. Also one hair (prop) and magnets to fit various figures (prop) hair to her.

I have been playing with her and she is a nice figure, commercial quality (IMHO).

I do not know Glidman, nor do I represent them in any way. I just believe that this is a figure worth being shared and informed about.

Sample render follows

Wow! Thank you very much for posting this. I am downloading her in a few minutes. I think I have some other items from this contributor also, but can't remember just WHAT. She looks lovely in your render!

Bwldrd, how were you able to download all the files? Apparently others are having issues downloading everything and there are missing files, including textures, poses and character files. The RAR file I downloaded was only 3MB, not 210MB. I made Gildman aware of this and hopefully the download will be fixed soon.

I'm not really into this type of character, but she is very sweet looking. Here's hoping everyone gets the missing files soon-ish.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, didn't get notification that there had been a response. Glad the second attempt worked for you Anim8dtoon.

Heya...

The figure, at base, does work pretty decently in DAZ Studio, just that you have to do a couple of things to it:

  1. after importing the figure and it finishes loading, Edit -> Figure -> Rigging -> Add Weight Mapping. It works with Triax, General, and Blended.

  2. (optional): Edit -> Figure -> Convert to SubD (this smooths some stuff out,, but what you really want is...)

  3. Edit -> Figure -> Geometry -> Add Smoothing Modifier. Once done, go into the Parameters tab, and crank up the smoothing a little to around 3. This helps the joint bending - bigly.

  4. When it comes to fitting clothes, be sure to get on the Add Smoothing Modifier option. If you get a pop-up asking for figure types, Leave it as-is ("Unsupported") and click Accept. It'll auto-form to the figure.

Gotchas and observations (only if you're using it in DS!):

  • The "Body Parts" dials (under Body Controls) aren't going to behave all that well. Hands did okay, but altering the legs and feet made the rigging go 'splat in a hurry. Adjusting the rigging to the figure, and/or ERC Freeze will not fix this. The "Head" dials (Body Controls) work just fine, and will give you the giggles if you go too extreme on the dials (but holy crap does the mesh hold up real well on the neck!) Leg and Arm movement dials in the same dial neighborhood will give mixed results.

  • The morphs do pretty well, though the feet morph dials will cause a bit of rigging breakage. Might be an IK thing, but I didn't dig too deeply.

  • The hair scaling was all wonky, but fixable for those who use DS. Just have to set the xScale to 100%, then scale-up the whole thing to 100%, and you're good to go.

Overall:

A DS user is not going to make her petite or taller than she is now, but you said specifically there was no support in that direction, so otherwise? A great go at it!

I love the fact that you included a good variety of clothing to start with. Universal (DS/Poser) gripes? I wish there was a way to scale the eye size down a bit with just a dial, and there is an initial alignment / eye-pointing thing that needs to happen (maybe that's just me?), but man, thank you for what you did here. I hope it encourages you to continually make more and better, because this is a solid effort.

Hope that my blathering helps out a bit :)

Oh, oblig. screenshot (iRay preview is on in this instance, and yes, I'll still have to convert the skintex to iRay to make it not-so-washed-out, but that's on me :) )

Thanks for the heads up.

Maybe I should do a toon style "Grudge" render. ๐Ÿ˜

I'll see if I can work up something. Right now I'm trying to get PEOne into Clesinger's "Woman Bitten By Serpent" pose. That's a bit of a faff.

At least this figure comes with a decent wardrobe, unlike Lafemme or Evolution. Oops, now I have to render her with clothing.

I just came across this figure. Wow, he really put a lot of work into it. Morphs, clothing, poses - there's more than a lot of pro packages have. She's really cute. Worth downloading just for the hair, which can be scaled to fit other characters.

(She comes with three elf ear morphs, among many others.) That's La Femme modeling the hair on the right. I hid the side strands and bangs, just for the heck of it. (The hair has some very useful morphs and material zones.)

I did have to move some files to their proper folders. Everything's in Figures (hair, poses, etc.). I seem to recall that used to work with older versions of Poser, but it doesn't seem to work any more.

Odd. It works in my version. Mind you, I haven't updated for a few months.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on this character. A very well done job. Everything one needs, all in one place. I was, gasp!!, even able to install it.

Wow, Rendo should hire this person to create 10 new characters for an upcoming version of Poser, that would be an impressive step forward. Maybe this artist can lead the charge on competing with Daz content?

And now, announcing, my very first Poser render, available only on Renderosity!! :-)

interesting topic, I think it could be a good teaching material for learning. For example, on https://meowessay.com/ you can also find work on modeling on different engines
