Hi, Welcome to the Genesis 3 to Poser-FREE utility help and support forum. The Genesis 3 to Poser plugin was created by Willdial to enable all of us to have the CHOICE to render Genesis 3 in Poser. We, the people, are launching this forum because the plugin is what opens the door to Genesis 3 to Poser but there are still technical and creative issues that as a community we can help each other figure out. A lot of us use both Daz Studio and Poser. Some of you are new to Daz Studio. 1 thing we all have in common is that as artists we enjoy working with Daz models in Poser. That's why we're here. We are a community of artists working toward a common goal of having fun creating art and it is fun and rewarding to help each other learn and create. So please, stay positive, respectful, and balanced. No matter what software you prefer remember our common goal in this forum is to render Genesis 3 in Poser. 2 different software apps working together in harmony. 1without the other does not work in this forum. We want to support each other's creativity and learning curve here. We will start making stickies and faq's on pertinent information you might want. It is your forum so if there are particular areas you want covered let us know. Please help each other and let's make some great art. Cheerio lululee

I love this tool and when I changed the decimal seperator, I'm German and here it is the comma, to the dot G3M also works well.

I found that not all textures are transferred to the Poser files, e. g. the lashes, but I don't know if it is the Poser compagnion exporter or it's the tool.

First off, THANK YOU !!! I am a Poser user and there is much I don't know about using Genesis, so here are some questions ( & don't yell at me because I want to find out ). Is Genesis 3 strictly a female form ? Is there a male Genesis 3 too ? Does this utility make Genesis completely workable in Poser ? If not, what is it that it doesn't do. Do Genesis morphs work in Poser now ? If there is a male Genesis, will this utility work for him too ? So how do you go about getting the Genesis figure anyway ? I've wanted the Genesis figure to play with in Poser, but I kept reading about lots of problems in getting this accomplished. And yes, I did notice people acting very defensive about getting this done. So thanks again. I might have more questions later.

Jules53757 ( ) posted Sat, 27 February 2016 at 2:11 AM

I'll try to answer one by one:

  • Genesis 3 has 2 different base figures
    • Genesis 3 Female and
    • Genesis 3 Male
  • Yes, with this utility Genesis 3 works with all morphs and expressions (that has been the problem before)
  • I had some problems with the face morphs for Genesis 3 Male but when I changed the decimal seperator to a dot, in Germany it's usually a comma, the probs have gone
  • Genesis 3 is available at DAZ3d, when you download DAZ Studio you can also download Genesis 3 Starter Essentials where the figures are included.

Hope this helps

I must say thank you for this, thank you also Lululee for your wonderful words, I agree with you: this makes me feel like when I started my 3d adventure again, it's great if we can use the two programs together. And this is also all free, thank you for this soo soooo much!

Hi I'm have some trouble with one section of the tut for this product. Can anyone tell me how to do this step. "Save G3 back to the Poser library under a different name" I'm running Poser 11 Pro Thanks

hborre ( ) posted Wed, 02 March 2016 at 2:25 PM · edited Wed, 02 March 2016 at 2:26 PM

Exactly as it is stated. Once you load the DAZ generated cr2 G3F into Poser, simply resave it back into your Poser Library. Highlight G3F, and towards the bottom left of your Library window, there is a "+" sign for saving figures and content back into the Library. A labeling pop up window will open, type the new name in the blank field.

Found it thanks

Elzenga ( ) posted Fri, 11 March 2016 at 6:33 AM

Ok, I have done this all and the Genesis 3 female character (Victoria 7) shows up as described. I can use the facial expressions but the result is horrible and hardly usable. I can hardly touch the dial wheel (.1 or more) or the expression becomes a mimic and clownesk. The mouth is not opening and the morph ruins the face. I have attached an example with the mouth open wide parameter on 0,3...

Is these something wrong in my poser environment? Anyone knows?

Mouth.jpg

hborre ( ) posted Fri, 11 March 2016 at 4:48 PM

Are you dialing in Victoria 7 morphs from Genesis 3 Female or using the actual character? The dial in from G3f mouth morphs work perfectly fine in my set up and a direct load of Michael 7 also works.

treewrx ( ) posted Fri, 11 March 2016 at 11:21 PM

I am having no luck with this at all. I am able to easily import G3F, and I can bend limbs and stuff without explosions. However, after using the utility that is supposed to fix the expressions, nothing happens. Some of them open her mouth a little, but they hardly work.

What did I miss? I followed the instructions about 40 times.

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2016 at 7:38 AM

I think that frustrated users should list their workflow, step-by-step, with the hope that something may be overlooked during the process. It is difficult to narrow down the problem while others, like myself, have not had any issues getting G3F/G3M working.

treewrx ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2016 at 8:07 AM

I found the step that was causing the problem. After you "Update" the character with the software, you have to close her, then load her again. That step could be a little more clear in the instructions.

Thank you for your response hborre.

Hello ! I have troubles with your converter. In the last Daz 4.9 there is not possiblity to convert from General to Triax. But as there is a possiblity to convert Triax to General, I suppose the figure already is in Triax. Is that right ? Anyway, after saved and opened in Poser according to instructions, I upload my new figure .cr2 and get the message (understandable in french): "The reference of an object is not set to an instance of an object". Could you help me ? Thanks.

There is a thread over at DAZ's site with a response to me on this question:

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1027505/#Comment_1027505

Fixmypcmike "Try running the Update and Merge Menus script."

Me "Where do I get it, and then how do I run it? As I look at my installation, the only script that shows up in my smart content is a render setting script."

Fixmypcmike "It should be in Utilities/Scripts, just double-click to run it."

After doing this, I had the "convert general weight to triax weight" conversion in my menus.

Hello. I succeeded to upload my G3 in Poser11 but I didn't succeed to get the face morphs. What happens ? And how to do for expressions ? and poses ? Thanks if someone can help me...

malainbertrand ( ) posted Sun, 10 April 2016 at 1:32 PM

I also realized that, in Windows 7, there are several Daz Libraries. One in Libraries/Documents/Documents Publics/ and another in User/Documents/Documents/publics and they have not the same files ! What is this mistery ?

malainbertrand ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2016 at 8:28 AM

Impossible to make V7 smiling (in Poser11), even a little. She open her muth, is angry, speak, but absolutely not any smile !

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2016 at 11:20 AM

Did you follow the instructions outlined in the tutorial for the utility? Once G3F is imported into Poser, save her back immediately into the Library, run the script on that cr2, then load the modified figure back into the Poser scene.

There should be only one DAZ content Library and that should be called My DAZ Content usually found in a share folder. If you are using DIM, that is the recommended location. I would consolidate everything to one folder or link all the folders to DAZStudio, but you risk getting a duplicate error when loading content.

malainbertrand ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2016 at 3:13 AM

Thanks ! About the install of G3F, yes, I follow all the instructions (and several times). I noted when I changed into Triax, V7 lose her smile and not any morphs works (in DAZ!). When loaded, changed and reloaded in Poser11, most of morphs works but someones no (by sample the smile). Is it possible to use the expressions and poses of V7 in Poser ? It seems no possible. About my Libraries, I think there were duplications precisely with DIM when I updated. I probably have to uninstall and reinstall all ! Anyway thanks for the help !

hborre ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2016 at 6:48 AM

Yes, expressions and poses do work in Poser. Just create PCF in DAZStudio.

malainbertrand ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2016 at 8:02 AM

Can you give more information?

willardj ( ) posted Sat, 04 June 2016 at 1:53 AM

Nice job could be huge for many of us. However, installation only works with .NET 3.5. I have a newer version of .NET and therefore neither .NET 3.5 nor the G3->Poser updater will install. Any workarounds or updates?

willdial ( ) posted Sat, 04 June 2016 at 1:14 PM

The .Net 3.5 runtime should still be available. A two second google search came up with the download link.

willardj ( ) posted Sat, 04 June 2016 at 3:05 PM

Yep found it didn't know they could function together. Everything went smooth. Managed to get my Genenis 3 figure in Poser with no problem13391587_1159925400738205_372562465783978894_o.jpg

Question: Do I need to keep the "Original" Poser Companion Files that I created in Daz Studio 4.9?

I have opened "In PoserPro 11" the Poser Companion Files I created in DS4.9, Saved them all with a New Name and run them through Genesis3PoserUpdater, which SAVED THEM.

So, Can I now D Delete" the "Original" Poser Companion Files?

Question: Can I move my Genesis 3 cr2 files to a new location, "After" they have been run through Genesis3PoserUpdater and SAVED?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't. It still refers back to converted duf you created in DS through DSON.

I think I will try that out then - Thanks

I'm having a problem the saving Poser Companion Files step. When it says to save where I want MY Poser 11 files to go, the drop down menu doesn't offer me an option to browse to where I want my files to go, and the only Poser version it's offering me is PP2014.

Is there a way to set this up beforehand so that my Poser 11 Pro is in this menu or add a 'browse' function so we have options to save where we want?

Nevermind, I figured out that I needed to think ahead of time and add my Poser 11 Content folder to the Content Directory Manager in DS before I start the CF conversion. That step should be added to the instructions unless I'm the only one who struggled with it 😁

Ok, found my converted figure in the Poser DSON folder inside Poser, but this is what I'm getting and then the figure won't load: P11Pro error when loading Rauol into scene.PNG

Unfortunately, that is a Reality script error. I had to disable Reality plugin to get around that error. Check with the makers of Reality at: http://preta3d.com/ for a better solution.

I don't know how to disable Reality! Seems like Reality is the cause of several issues in not just Poser, but for some ppl in DS as well. Such a shame.

Attention Lululee During the Webinar you mentioned that you use "The Default" for EZSkin 3 on Genesis 3. When I attempt to use that with V7 or M7, I get a Message "Figure NOT Supported. I have to do a "Custom" and the names do not all match up.

Are there any EZSkin3 "Figure Support Files for Genesis 3" anywhere?

I have seen that a few times and it seems to be due to sloppy rigging by the vendor. They did not set the region of the hair to a bone. Commonly, its the neck area. DS will show the area, but it will not bend.

Thank You Will. I suspected it was Vendor construction as with some of the shoes.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Not Only has Willdial given us a fantastic App to convert Genesis 3 to Poser 11, Will has gone Above and Beyond to help me repair Genesis 3 Figure Hair that has previously had issues. Will walked me through DS4.9 Joint Editor to Correct the Bone Issues that the Vendor had left undone. Will's diligence helped me correct the Genesis3 Pauline Hair. Will did such a great job with his teaching that I was able to repair Genesis 3 Ireland Hair On my own, with no outside help.

Thank You Will DR
