Titia was a longtime member here at Renderosity, sharing with us her beautiful fractal creations in the Renderosity Fractal Gallery. Renderosity member algra offers the following memorial to Titia.

In Memoriam Titia van Beugen

When I entered Renderosity in 2005, one of the fractal artists who fascinated me most was Titia. My wife and I were impressed by her uploads here, but also by her poems, stories and fractal creations on her own site. We were full of admiration.

Her story of life, and her beautifully illustrated story: “Olim, Land of Lost Pearls,” led to a more intense mail contact.

Some years ago, her feared cancer came back and she gave here on Renderosity her Testament:

“When I was born,
my eyes were shut,
my hands were closed,
my heart was empty....

I opened my eyes.
I opened my hands.
I opened my heart.

People gave me love, warmth, light.
So did God...and added faith.

Yes, there was pain and sorrow,
There was fear and despair and more,
but these are too heavy to carry along,
so...I dropped them.

now I am traveling light :-)

This is my testament:
My hands, heart and eyes are filled with love, warmth, light and faith.
This riches was given by others.
I want to pass it on.”

And she added:

”I am ready to go, but my loved ones would not let me,
now I use my remaining power to stay with them,
maybe just for some days, but hopefully still for years to come...”

Titia’s hope was fulfilled, some years of much productivity, optimism and hope followed, in spite of many set-backs. The contact between her and us was intensified last year, and it became more profound. She remained joyful, although many times she suffered much. She always was full of faith in her Father. He, so she wrote us, always helped her in difficult moments.

We all enjoyed her creations. Daring and bright colors she often presented. It was one of the characteristics of her style, recognizable in all kinds of fractal software she used. “Fractal Explorer” was her favourite one, in this she was, as Etienne vandenHeede wrote: “The Queen”.

November 30th, 2009 we got the message that Titia’s oncologist had reported an explosive growth of malign tumors in her lungs. Now she knew that the end of her life will be near. Titia wrote: “Death is no problem for me, I still have a strong faith in my Father, but for Chris and Bianca it will be terrible.”

It was a great privilage that Titia’s husband Chris gave us the opportunity to meet her on January 31st. We were deeply impressed by her words: “It will be all right, all will be fine!”

Titia enriched the whole fractal community with her beautiful creations, but above all, by her great personality.

She passed away on February 9th, in her own home, surrounded by her beloved family. We shall miss her. May she rest in peace.
