First of all we want to thank all the those that left a comment on
our previous interview. Honestly we can imagine someone thought: oh
no! Them again! Okay, you do not have to leave another comment, we
know many people do appreciate our work, even though they do not
make their voices heard! THANKS to all! Who is As
Shanim? As Shanim is actually Aery Soul ... and Aery Soul
is As Shanim and Siliphiel. As Shanim would be nothing without
Siliphiel! I really hope one day well be able to change our
Renderosity name and become Aery Soul! Forgot : I dont like talking
about myself. Really. How long have you have you been
rendering? I do not know. Since long I believe. Im not
sure since some years I believe yes, sure some years, but
before 3d I used to draw 2d (pixel art). I painted 32 x 32 pixel
squares. I enjoyed it. I also made some renders with Amiga 500:
reflecting spheres in raytracing, the check floor... nice memories.
Fortunately those times are gone, how bothering it was to wait for
days for such renders. However Amiga is the best thing of the last
25 years and I hope it will rise again so that I can paint in 32 x
32 squares again... but without waiting for days to render a
sphere. What are you currently working on? Im
working on a sphere that reflects a check floor I improved and
added a cube What? Ah. I see Its 2006 and were talking
about Poser. Okay, sorry then. (I hope that render is complete...)
Our next projects are very interesting. I will try to realize ever
more complex and intriguing things. Im taking inspiration from
the great contemporary masters of art. Very soon we will present a
set inspired by Royos art (the art of Conceptions). Actually we
also find music very inspiring. When I create something I always
imagine how it moves, what it says, which music would play during
its adventures and so on... What software do you use and
why? Any 3d software for Amiga naturally! ... ... ... Maya.
Yes, I use Maya. The reason is very simple, I liked the name and
started using it. Its a modelling tool with which I can do what
I want, it follows my ideas and this is enough to use it! Sometime
I get the impression I can grab the vertex with my hand and move it
wherever I want in the 3d environment. Great tool. Do you
have any advice for getting started selling 3D work? Yes
sure. To start selling I think its useful to work at something
that is not too complex yet original. A piece of clothing for
example: even though the modelling is simple if the idea is
original you can become a merchant and find yourself in the top 30
in a couple of months. Ideas are always needed. Exaggerating is
also important. When you create something always add things, it is
always a good thing to do. Imagination... imagination is important!
Do you think a cube can become a huge and complex starship? Do you
think a sphere can become a Ferrari? Do you think a ciliber can
become and amazing piece of clothing? Do you think youll let me
know how it can be done? Where do you find inspiration for
your products? As I said inspiration comes from the great
artists, from old and new videogames; not to mention music, films
and everything I have around. Everything my five senses tell me, I
listen to! But of course inspiration its not enough, you also
need a laugh. Yes, because after 4 years if you do not like what
youre doing I dont think inspiration comes back just because
she thinks youre nice. To those that create, to artists, a life
made of ups and downs is essential together with some heartfelt
laugh once in a while (especially on the workplace).. Ahahah!
How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your
work, relationships, and learning? I still remember the day
I realized I could create something: Poser clothes. It was
December. I started modelling my first piece of clothing for the
Market (string cloth) and it was a success (for me of course)!
(Okay, okay, I know, its boring... but let me go on!). Shortly
afterwards I gave up my work to devote myself to the more
satisfying job of leafleting. Open air, long walks in the city
traffic, people that look you askance, no one that helps you, no
one that wants your leaflet. One day, inspired as never in my life
by a 3d-related magazine I took the decision I had to take. I went
in front of my Amiga, I greeted it and started modelling. (Wait!
No, wait... Im almost done... comon, drop that gun! Wait
WAIT!!!!) To put it simple, without Renderosity I wouldnt do
what I do. I think this is more than enough! Do you have any
final words? As me and a friend of mine said to our math
teacher: Zero plus Zero its two Zeroes. ... ... Yes, as always!
I have always something to say, thats why Im not listened at.
Respect. I do not know whos behind my monitor. I do not know how
many people will read what I write. I do not know how many people
look at my images. I do not know how much importance someone
elses image does have. Be it beautiful or bad. I cannot imagine
how other people live and I cannot judge anything and anyone. I can
just give my opinion, respecting all I can imagine and when I
cannot do it Im just a bit candid. Once again I have just spoken
among millions of cries. Commitment its what is needed, for
everything. I want to thank: my parents, I wouldn't be myself and I
wouldn't be here without them. The music we listen at, which
inspires us and keeps my memories alive. The visual art and its
creators, simply fundamental for us. And finally I thank my
elementary school teacher, my primary school math teacher and my
secondary school Italian teacher. We want to thanks, hugs and
kisses everyone. We want to thank all our customers for their
support and appreciation over the years. We want to say thanks to
the all Renderosity admins, for their work and availability. As
Shanim & Siliphiel of Aery Soul
