Poser Figure Artist FAQ
Q: Is Poser Figure Artist the same as Poser Artist? A: No. Poser Figure Artist was specifically created to enable figure artists to learn about and depict the human form in mixed media, such as oils and watercolors. Poser Figure Artist is a new application from the ground up, yet it is based on Poser 6 technology. As such, it incorporates advanced capabilities of Poser, such as the latest figures, rendering engines, etc which were not available in Poser Artist.
Q: Is Poser Figure Artist a limited version Poser? A: No. While it is based as Poser 6 technology, Poser Figure Artist offers very different capabilities to address artists interested in figure art. Poser Figure Artist replaces wooden mannequins and live models that figure artists traditionally work with in the studio, with realistic virtual models, and offers 360 degree lighting controls with an easy-to-use interface, so figure artists can create and display human figures with a minimum effort.
Q: How is Poser Figure Artist different from Poser? A: Poser Figure Artist provides teaching and educational tools tied to a content library-driven interface so artists can learn more about and create figure art. Library-driven means the workflow guides artists through the placement of a figure on stage, the addition of hair and clothing, the choice of pose, all by picking items such as hair, clothing and poses from the library. While this workflow minimizes the time and effort needed to create, dress and light a model, there are also tools available to fine-tune figure poses or settings if artists want to do more.
Q: What are the educational tools in Poser Figure Artist? A: A QuickStart guide is provided to walk you step-by-step through a number of simple projects. This interactive guide comes with sample watch-me videos and ensures that artists can work with the product straight out of the box. In addition, there are chapters in PDF format of an illustrated art book by Les Pardew titled Figure Drawing with Virtual Models, which is published by Thomson Publishing. We also added famous figure paintings as reference images, with the pre-assembled poses representing the paintings.
